Plot Summary

The Divergent film is based on a novel with the same name written by Veronica Roth. The story follows the experiences of Beatrice (Tris) in a future society in Chicago. The society is characterized by five factions: Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), and Erudite (the intellectual). At the age of 16, characters must undergo an aptitude test for their faction and decide which one to join. Their decisions are final and leaving their chosen faction would leave them factionless. As Tris chooses Dauntless and begins training with them, the society meets an internal conflict over power. Throughout the movie, several computing technologies are developed and used.
